Weather Conditions January 5, 2022

Dear East Ramapo School Community,

As you are well aware, the Hudson Valley was caught off-guard by this morning’s swift change in weather conditions. At the time of deploying the buses at 5 AM, the roads in our local vicinity were clear and dry allowing for in-person learning.

Within a short period of time, road conditions deteriorated and many students, staff and parents were traveling on slippery roads. The district was also informed by some of our bus vendors that busing had ceased due to the poor road conditions. We are aware that this caused significant issues with transportation and we are working with our vendors to address them immediately.

We are grateful to all of the people involved in getting our students to school safely.

We are closely monitoring the forecast for Friday and will communicate directly with the East Ramapo Central School District community once decisions are made regarding transportation, in-person learning, and operations.
