Ramapo High School Cuts Ribbon on New Athletic Facilities

On Tuesday, October 23, the East Ramapo Central School District community came together to celebrate the official opening of the new Ramapo High School athletic facilities and field.

"Our children come first." said Dr. Deborah L. Wortham, Superintendent of Schools. During the opening ceremony she thanked the community for their support of the capital improvement bond that provided funding for the project.

After greetings from Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht and Senator David Carlucci, the "world-famous" East Ramapo Marching Band led the excited crowd from the auditorium to the field where they gathered to cut the Gryphon-gold ribbon.

The new all-weather turf field is designed for multiple sport use. The improved facility also features a new running track, bleachers, a scoreboard and lights.

"For the first time in ten years," said Kevin Bullock, Coach of the Ramapo Gryphons football team. "We have a place we can proudly call home."
