On Saturday evening, an electrical transformer outside the building failed, which caused the short circuit of a main switch gear inside the school. This electrical fault triggered the school’s fire alarm and alerted local fire departments. Hillcrest, Monsey and Tallman fire companies responded and immediately determined the source of the smoke in the boiler room. Orange and Rockland Utilities quickly cut power to the building. • New York State Face Covering Mandate

Our district is aware of Monday's court ruling related to the New York State mask mandate. Late last night, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) appealed the Nassau County Supreme Court decision, which results in an automatic stay, that unambiguously restores the mask mandate until such time that an appellate court issues a further ruling. Therefore, schools in New York State must continue to follow the existing mask rule.
