Dear East Ramapo Community,
As the proud Superintendent of Schools, I am pleased to welcome our students and families to the 2026-27 academic year.
We are honored to partner with you as your student begins another exciting new chapter of their educational journey. Whether your child is new or returning, we are committed to ensuring an educational experience that is engaging, supportive and filled with opportunities for growth and success.
This Back to School Guide is designed to help our ERCSD families navigate the K-12 experience with confidence. Inside, you’ll find essential contact information and other resources to support your child’s growth, well-being and academic achievement. More importantly, it reflects our commitment to working in partnership with families and caregivers. When schools work in close collaboration with families, we create an environment in which every child thrives.
I look forward to getting to know our students, parents, caregivers and community partners in the coming months as we build on our strengths and expand opportunities for every East Ramapo student.

Bus Passes/Transportation
The district provides safe, reliable and courteous bus service for all East Ramapo students. Visit the Transportation Department for help with registration, bus passes, safety and more.
Bus Passes will be sent to the home for every child eligible for bus transportation. The usual arrival time of the bus passes to the homes are about two weeks before school for private school students, and about one week before school for public school students. Digital copies of bus passes will also be available on the My Ride K-12 app.
Multilingual Education
By fostering bilingualism, biliteracy and biculturalism, East Ramapo prepares students to communicate across languages and cultures, think critically and solve complex problems.
The Multilingual Education Department provides mandated services and programs for English Language Learners and Multilingual Learners across the district, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed academically and linguistically.
If you have questions about English as a New Language (ENL), Dual Language, Transitional Bilingual Education, student registration or other related services, please email MLE@ercsd.org or call the Main Office Parent Hotline at 845-577-6043.
If you have questions about your rights or services for your student, call the NYS ELL Parent Hotline at 800-469-8224.
Cell Phone Policy
All public school students in New York State are prohibited from using cell phones or other personal devices that connect to the internet during the entire school day. In line with this rule, East Ramapo students may not use these devices anywhere on school property during the instructional day, including during class, lunch, recess, free periods, study halls, and in hallways between classes.
Start & End Times (Bell Schedule)
Please note the new schedules for elementary and middle schools. High school schedules remain unchanged from last year.
- Ramapo and Spring Valley High Schools: 7:42 a.m. – 1:56 p.m.
- Pomona and Chestnut Ridge Middle Schools: 9:05 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.
- Kakiat S.T.E.A.M. Academy (Grades 7&8): 8:05 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.
- Kakiat S.T.E.A.M. Academy (Grades 4-6): 8:10 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.
- Elementary Schools: 8:10 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.
School Supplies
School supplies vary by school and by grade. Locate your student's school supply list by visiting the school supply lists page, or your school's website.
Parent/Student Portal
In the Parent Portal and Student Portal, parents and students can access schedules, attendance, progress reports, report cards, bus information.
Central Registration
The district’s Central Registration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Parents can come to the office to change a student’s address or register a student in person.
Immunization Requirements
East Ramapo follows New York State’s health requirements for students attending school, primarily focused on immunizations and physical examinations.
