East Ramapo's Literacy Initiative

Reading is at the heart of every classroom in the East Ramapo Central School District, where students from many different cultures, backgrounds and languages come together to learn and grow. This video highlights the district’s ongoing commitment to strengthening literacy instruction through a more intentional, research-based approach designed to meet the needs of all learners.

Through reflections from teachers, administrators and instructional leaders, we showcase how East Ramapo classrooms are building stronger readers by combining the Science of Reading with culturally responsive teaching, multilingual support and engaging thematic learning experiences. We also tell the story of how our dedicated educators are working side by side to ensure every child feels seen, supported and empowered as they develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed in school and beyond.
