East Ramapo Bus Safety Information

East Ramapo is committed to school bus safety. Make sure your child watches our bus safety video, which highlights essential tips from our law enforcement partners.

SPANISH VERSION                   HAITIAN CREOLE VERSION

Please note: The first day of school is Thursday, September 4, and student bus passes will arrive in the coming weeks. For your child’s safety and to avoid delays, they must carry their bus pass every day.

✅ Teach Your Child These School Bus Safety Rules:
• Wait for the bus to stop completely before approaching
• Look both ways before crossing the street
• Stay at least 10 feet in front of the bus—this “safety zone” is where most accidents happen
• Never walk behind the bus
• Buckle up whenever seat belts are available

✅ Encourage Safe Behavior on the Bus:
• Stay seated while the bus is moving
• Don’t stand up until the bus is fully stopped
• Use quiet voices to avoid distracting the driver
• Keep feet, backpacks and belongings out of the aisle
• Keep hands, arms and heads inside the bus at all times

Every child deserves a safe ride to and from school every day. Let’s work together to make that happen.
