A little about me: My 8th grade Science teacher opened my eyes to how amazing science is and I’ve been passionate about it ever since. I still keep in touch with him today. I attended Hunter College and obtained a BS in Medical Technology. However, after working for several years in Einstein Hospital I decided that it was not my true passion. I enrolled in Mercy College and recieved my Masters in Education, my original intent was to be a kindergarten teacher. I started working for NYC public schools immediately as a science teacher. I taught grades 2- 8 and fell in love with sharing my love of science with students. In 1998 I left the city to work for the East Ramapo School district. In 2000 I gave birth to my son and decided to stay home to raise my 3 children. In 2009 I returned to the East Ramapo Disctrict. I have worked in both high schools and middle schools teaching various areas of science. This will be my third year teaching 7th grade at Kakiat. I feel blessed to have been a part of the first 8th grade graduating class for Kakiat Steam Academy. Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my family, and my crazy dog Riley. I love to travel, enjoy music and visiting museums whenever possible.
Special science interests: I'm especially interested in epigenetics, the interaction between genes and environment, health sciences, and human impact on the environment.
