• High School English as a New Language

High School English as a New Language instruction can be provided with a Co-teaching model and/or a Stand-Alone model. Teachers certified in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and content certified teachers collaborate on lessons and provide instruction using a co-teach model. This model affords students the opportunity to receive ENL and content instruction simultaneously.

In a Stand-Alone instructional setting, ESOL teachers provide instruction during a specific class period in a separate classroom. Instruction is aligned to the New York State Common Core Learning Standards and specifically geared towards increasing language and content area skills.
