• Dear 6th Grade Families,

My name is Mr. Henry. I would like to be the first to welcome you and your child to the sixth grade and to class 6H.  I will be your child’s teacher for the 2018-19 school year.  The sixth grade is a very important year for students. It is a testing year and we will be preparing the students for Middle School.   I want to build a relationship with the parents, so we can work together to make sure that your child meets the Common Core Standards for the 6th grade academic year.

Additionally, we will need your support with homework.  I believe that homework is an essential part of your child’s learning; without it your child will fall behind. Homework is assigned nightly as a reinforcement of what is taught in class.  Please review your child’s homework every evening to ensure that is completed.   If you observe that your child had trouble with his/her assignment please send me a note, so I may address those concerns.  We also ask that you set aside a quiet place and time for your child to read independently for a minimum of 60 minutes each night.  It is critically important that each one of our 6th grade students develop reading stamina for a minimum of 60 minutes in order to meet the grade level state standards. All 6th grade students will be responsible for submitting written responses as evidence of their independent reading.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be more than happy to help you.

    Mr. Henry
