• Running for Board of Education

    The election for School Board members will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019

    A person is qualified to be a candidate for the Board of Education if he or she meets the following criteria:

    • Must be able to read and write
    • Must be a qualified voter of the School District (U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and not adjudged incompetent)
    • Must be and have been a resident of the School District for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year prior to the election
    • May not have been removed from any School District office within the preceding one year
    • May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family
    • May not be a current employee of the school board
    • May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office
    All candidates must file petitions with the District Clerk.  Petitions may be picked up in the Office of the District Clerk on any day that school is session between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Each petition must be completed in full, including declaration of the seat for which you intend to run, prior to obtaining signatures.  A candidate may circulate a petition for only one seat. 
    The Board members whose three-year terms expire June 30, 2019 are Bernard L. Charles, Jr., Pierre Germain and Yehuda Weissmandl 

    194 signatures are required, however you may obtain additional signatures if you choose.

    Petitions must be filed in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, April 22, 2019.  Each Petition should be dated and numbered.  Drawing for ballot placement will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the District Clerk's office. 

    All candidates must file three sworn or affirmed statements with both the District Clerk and the NYS Commissioner of Education when total campaign expenditures and contributions (made by candidates or on their behalf) exceed $500.00.  When campaign expenditures and contributions are less than $500.00, the candidate must file a sworn statement only with the District Clerk.  The filing dates are April 22, 2019; May 16, 2019; and June 10, 2019.
