Homework for first graders is a reinforcement of skills taught in class. Students generally have two pages per night. In addition, students have reading books to practice every night. Please talk to your child about their assigned books. Discussing the characters, problems and events in stories helps lead children to greater comprehension. Please listen to your child read as well. If their reading sounds choppy you can remind them to read like they are talking. Rereading the books many times helps children to read more fluently. Reviewing math addition and subtraction facts at home is also helpful. If you find that your child needs more reinforcement and skill practice, I have included several links to useful websites. Happy working!
