Hempstead Elementary School

East Ramapo Central School District

  • March 29, 2020

Dear Families and Children of Hempstead Elementary School,

I hope you are safe and well. The teachers, staff and I miss your smiling faces.

As of today, there is no official return date for school.  Therefore, instruction will happen virtually (by means of Class Dojo, Google Classroom and the Remind App).

Lessons will be posted on the Hempstead School Homepage.  Your teachers will send you a link to help you get there, and they will be in touch with you, daily.

For Grades K-2 you will have:

    • 15 minutes of English Language Arts (ELA), every day
    • 15 minutes of math, every day
    • 15 minutes of either social studies or science, every day
    • 15 minutes of either art, music, library or physical education (one every day)

For Grades 3-6 you will have:

    • 20 minutes of English Language Arts (ELA), every day
    • 20 minutes of math, every day
    • 20 minutes of either social studies or science, every day
    • 20 minutes of either art, music, library or physical education (one every day)

The teachers will guide the lessons, and your child will work independently to complete his/her assignments. Please ensure the work is being completed. Each lesson will begin with a Learning Target (goal of the lesson), an activity and a resource. Your child must complete each assignment and submit it at the end of the day.

Your child’s teacher will give feedback on the assignment and make appointments with you and/ or your child to offer more guidance, and feedback as necessary.  Again, all assignments must be completed and submitted daily.

On the first day of your lessons, Monday, March 30, your teachers will help you set up a schedule as well as guide you through the lessons of the day. Follow the dates on the lessons that will be provided to you on the Hempstead School Homepage.  Please do not go ahead.

The teachers and I will be here to guide you everyday.  The teachers will answer any questions and address any concerns.

    Be safe and be well!

    Warmly,
    Principal Ortiz

    Directora Sra. Ortiz
