    In keeping with the latest research, skills (goal setting and planning), communication, self-management, stress management, decision making, and advocacy, drive the K-12 health curriculum. This curriculum is designed to reflect Goals 2000: learner centered activities and authentic assessment; The National Health Education Standards and New York State Health Education must be accomplished through emphasis on student innovation and response. Therefore during these times for increased individual responsibility the curriculum must couple a sense of commitment to establishing life goals of positive physical, emotional, and mental health for its students. The student of today requires a multiplicity of different tasks to achieve optimum understanding of quality health and thus, the department has created a curriculum that fosters the health of the overall human being, mind, body and soul.
