• ApprovedSuperintendent Search Specifications Resolution - approved January 2, 2024

    CheckWHEREAS, the Board of Education has engaged the services of School Leadership, LLC of Malverne, New York to assist it in its search for a new Superintendent of Schools, and

    CheckWHEREAS, School Leadership, LLC has submitted a Specification Development Report to the Board following its conduct of focus groups and public meetings to solicit input and ideas from staff, students, parents, and the community at large, and

    CheckWHEREAS, input data have also been reviewed from the results of a questionnaire made widely available throughout the school district,

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:

    • The Board authorizes School Leadership, LLC to arrange for publication of position advertisements in Education Week, and postings on electronic bulletin boards
    • Said advertisements or postings should make reference to the following specifications for the candidates for said position:

    The East Ramapo School District seeks a Superintendent who has:

    • Experience as a Superintendent leading a multiethnic, multilingual, multiracial district representing a culturally and religiously diverse community.
    • A strong background in school budgeting and developing long-term financial plans along with experience in leading district operations and school infrastructure, including transportation, facilities and food services.
    • Provided evidence of a commitment to academic excellence
    • A demonstrated ability to lead district teams in developing cohesive policies, practices and systems to benefit all children.
    • A record of maintaining high visibility in the district’s schools, in and at its student activities and events, as well as supporting student accomplishments.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop a communications framework based on transparency and engagement, including the ability to effectively advocate on behalf of the district to community partners.
    • IA proven record as an instructional leader inspiring all learners to improve academic achievement
    • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire staff and who has a track record of supporting professional development
    • Willingness to locate proximate to the District
    • A proven ability to collaborate and build trust within the school and community.
    • A skilled negotiator with proven experience working collaboratively with collective bargaining units

    IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED:

    Said advertisement shall also include the following specifications:

      • Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual and who are willing to locate proximate to the District
      • Eligibility for New York State licensing as a School District Leader is required
      • A regionally-competitive salary and benefits will be offered
