Welcome to AP Calculus AB!

AP Calculus is an advanced math class which can lead to college credit.  In order to receive college credit you must take and pass the AP Exam.

Calculus is generally considered one of the more difficult AP classes.  Many districts structure the class with a lab period, to make it easier to get through the curriculum.  We are operating at a time-disadvantage here, because where other schools might have ten periods a week, we have four, and the workload reflects that.

AP Calculus is operated on a flipped classroom model.  You will have daily homework which will consist of watching the video lecture for the topic in advance of the next class period, and finishing any work from the assignment that you did not finish during class time.  Video lectures are between fifteen and forty-five minutes long.  You will be expected to write down any questions you have about the material in the videos so we can address them during class.  During class time, we will work on practice problems and do other hands-on and collaborative activities.  This is the time for you to practice, ask questions, and make sure you understand the material.

AP Calculus is a college-level class, and there are college-level expectations.  The work is intended to help you learn the material, and it is your responsibility to make sure you keep working until you understand.  I am available for questions and extra help.
