    Reading comprehension ideas:

    1.  READ, READ and READ some more to your child!

    2.  Ask them questions about the story in a relaxed, non-pressured way.

    3.  Engage them in conversation about what they are reading.  Ask them what they would do if they were in the same situation as the character(s) in the story.

    4. Try to relate what they are reading with the real world and with their environment.  Help your child make connections about the story and what is happening in their world.

    5. Talk about character's feelings and emotions.  Ask your child how they would feel in a similar situation to the character in the story.  

    6. Take a trip to the library and have your child choose some books that interest them.  Reading should be enjoyable and fun for them!
